Surely Blessing I Will Bless You Hebrews 6:14

The Hebrew writer shared how God “swore” to Abraham “by Himself” to affirm what He was saying was true and would occur. God could “swear” by “no one greater”, so He only had Himself to “swear” by. In chapter six and verse fourteen of Hebrews we are reminded of God's promise to Abraham as He told him, “surely blessing I will bless you” where we read:

Saying, Surely blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply you.

The verse begins, “Saying, Surely blessing I will bless you,...”. The writer began with the word, “Saying” which means “affirming, teaching, exhorting, commanding and directing”, “surely” or “most assuredly and certainly” “blessing” which means “praising, celebrating, consecrating and bestowing favor” “I will bless you” which refers to “God praise, celebrate, consecrate and bestow favor upon Abraham”. God told Abraham inasmuch as He is in the business of “blessing”, He would indeed “bless” Abraham abundantly.

The verse continues, “and multiplying I will multiply you”. The writer added the words, “and multiplying” or “increasing” “I will multiply you” which means “God would increase Abraham”. In addition to blessing Abraham, God promised to “increase” him above and beyond his current state.

When we consider these words in Hebrews, we see how God made promises to Abraham and kept them. God is in the “blessing” and “increasing” business, and He enjoyed “blessing” Abraham. God maintained His integrity by doing exactly as He promised, and for those who accept Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and Lord, He shall do the same. God desires to “bestow favor upon” us, and He wants us to “increase”. Our part is simply to “believe” in Him and allow Him to do as He desires with our lives.

Next time the writer shares when Abraham “had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
