They Shall not Teach Neighbors Hebrews 8:11

The writer of Hebrews shared how God would “put” His “laws into their mind” as he referred to God and the people of Israel, and in chapter eight and verse eleven of Hebrews the writer shares how people “shall not teach every man his neighbor” where we read:

And they shall not teach every man his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.

The verse begins, “And they shall not teach every man his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord:”. The writer began with the words, “And they shall not” which means “the people will never, certainly not, not at all and by no means” “teach” or “hold discourse with others in order to instruct them or deliver didactic discourses” “every man” which refers to “each and anyone person, ” “his neighbor” which refers to “their friends, other persons, fellow men and any other person with whom they live or have a chance to meet”, “and every man” or “each and anyone person” “his brother” which means “fellowman, associates or brethren” “saying” which means “speaking, affirming and maintaining”, “Know” or “perceive, understand, learn and come to know” “the Lord” which refers to “he to whom a person or thing belongs, about which he has power of deciding; master and the title given to God the Messiah”. There will no longer be a need for people to “teach” one another concerning “knowinh” God.

The verse continues, “...for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.”. The writer added the words, “for all” or “because and since each, every, the whole and everyone” “shall know me” which means “will perceive, understand, learn and come to know God”, “from the least” or “from the smallest in quantity, rank and influence” “to the greatest” which means “to the most numerous, abundant, predicated of rank in intensity and its degrees”. The reason people will not have to “teach” one another about God is because everyone within their souls whether they are “small” or “great” among people shall already “know” Him.

When we think through these words in Hebrews, we see the value of God bringing in this “new covenant”. There would no longer be a need for people to “teach” one another about “knowing God” because God promised to put that desire within people's hearts and minds. Whether the person comes from a “lesser valued” background or a “great” background, they shall be able to “know” the Lord. Jesus desires for everyone to “know” Him, and if anyone will simply look within, the knowledge of God shall be found within them.

Next time the writer shares how God will “be merciful to their unrighteousness”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
