Paul the apostle shared
with the church members in Corinth how he and his companions,
“always bearing about in the body the
dying of the Lord Jesus, that ht life also of Jesus might be made
manifest in our body”,
in
chapter four and verse eleven of Second Corinthians, Paul shared with
the church members how they were also, “persecuted,
but not forsaken”,
where we read:
For we
which live are always delivered unto death for Jesus' sake,
that the
life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh.
The verse begins, “For
we which live are always delivered unto death for Jesus' sake,...”
Paul began with the word, “for”
which
means “even as, indeed, no doubt, seeing then, verily and
therefore” “we which live”
or “Paul and his companions who breathe, are not lifeless and dead,
are active and blessed” “are
always”
which means “are perpetually, invariably and incessantly”
“delivered”
or “given into the hands of others” “unto
death” or
“to that separation whether natural or violent of the soul and the
body by which the life on earth is ended” “for”
on account and means of “Jesus”
whose name
means “Jehovah is Salvation” and is “the Son of God, the Savior
of mankind and God incarnate”. Paul and
his companions felt they were “at all times” given over to
“death” for Jesus.
The verse goes on to say,
“... that the
life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh.”
Paul continued with the words, “that the
life” which
means “so and in order that the state of every living soul”
“also” or
“even and indeed” “of
Jesus” which
means
“Jehovah is Salvation” and is “the Son of God, the Savior of
mankind and God incarnate” “might
be manifest”
or “may be visible and know what has been hidden or unknown”
“in our” which
means “in Paul and his companions'” “mortal
flesh” or
“liable to death body which denotes mere human nature, the earthly
nature of man apart from divine influence and therefore prone to sin
and opposed to God”.
Even though Paul and his companions were
“thrown to the ground” when they shared the “gospel”, they
were not “abolished and put to an end”.
When we consider these
words of Paul, we see how he and his companions were willing to face
the threat of “death” in their “earthly bodies” so
Jesus would be shown in them. This is a servant of Jesus mindset, and
when people become more interested in others being shown the life
that can be obtained by a relationship with Him, even “death”
cannot deter them. Jesus Christ desires to have a relationship with
everyone who will, and He will use all who are willing to
“manifest the life” of Himself to others. Let us seek the
Lord and His desire, and ask Him to use us to “reveal” Himself to
others.
Next
time Paul tells the church members, “death
works in us, but life in you”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then,
Until
tomorrow…there is more…
