Not Found Naked 2 Corinthians 5:3

Paul the apostle told the church members in Corinth, “for in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven:”, and in chapter five and verse three of Second Corinthians, Paul told the church members, “not be found naked”, where we read:

If so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked.

The verse begins, “If so be that being clothed...” Paul began with the words, “If so” which means “indeed, inasmuch, as and since also” “be that being clothed” which means “to sink into clothing, put on, clothe one's self, be arrayed and endued”. Paul considered the promise of being “clothed” with the “heavenly body”.

The verse continues, we shall not be found naked. Paul added the words, “we shall not be found” which means “Paul, his companions and the church members would not find by inquiry, thought, examination, scrutiny, observation, practice and experience” “naked” or “unclad and without clothing”. Paul knew when his “earthly tabernacle” was destroyed, there would be a “heavenly body” that would replace it.

When we meditate upon these words of Paul, we see his emphasis upon being “clothed” with a “body”. While on earth, he had a “earthly” body, and when he entered heaven, he had a “heavenly body”. This promise is true for all who come to Jesus Christ and ask Him to be their “Savior and Lord”, and those who are wise will understand and receive the Lord's offer to be clothed with a “heavenly body”.

Next time Paul shares with the church members how, “we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then,

Until tomorrow…there is more…
