Paul
the apostle, sharing concerning “unbelievers”, told the church
members in Corinth to, “come out from
among them, and be you separate, says the Lord, and touch not the
unclean thing”,
and he reminded them how God said, “and
touch not the unclean thing;
and I will receive you,...”.
In
chapter six and verse eighteen of Second Corinthians, Paul continued
to share the benefits with the church members as he wrote, “And
will be a Father unto you, and you shall be my sons and daughters”
where we read:
And will
be a Father unto you, and you shall be my sons and daughters, says
the Lord Almighty.
The verse begins, “And
will be a Father unto you, and you shall be my sons and daughters,
...” Paul began
with the words, “and will be”
which
means “and God will be” “a
Father” or
“generator or male ancestor”, “unto
you” which
means “toward the church members”,
“and you shall be”
or “and the church members will be”
“my sons” which
means “God's male offspring” “and
daughters”
or “and female offspring”. Paul shared
how God promised to make the church members children in His family.
The verse continues,
“...says the Lord Almighty.”
Paul continued with the word, “says”
which means “utters, proclaims and declares” “the
Lord” or
“he to whom a person or thing belongs, about which he has power of
deciding; master and the title given to God the Messiah” “Almighty”
which means “omnipotent One, ruler of all and he who holds sway
over all things”. Paul shared the Lord's
words concerning his instruction.
When we meditate upon
these words of Paul, we see God's promise to those who “separate”
themselves from “unbelievers”
in the world. Not only will God “receive”
them, but He
will also make them His “sons and daughters”.
This is made possible by Jesus Christ, and it is available for
everyone who will believe and trust in Him as “Savior and Lord”.
John the apostle shared a similar idea in the gospel of John, chapter
one and verse twelve, “But as
many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of
God, even to them that believe on his name”.
Next
time we begin a new chapter as Paul exhorts the church members to,
“let us cleanse
ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting
holiness”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then,
Until
tomorrow…there is more…
