Paul
the apostle shared with the Corinthian church members how he and his
companions were “labor, that, whether
present or absent, we may be accepted of him”,
and in
chapter five and verse ten of Second Corinthians, Paul told the
church members, “we must all appear before
the judgment seat of Christ”
where we read:
For we must all appear before the judgment seat of
Christ; that every one may receive the things done
in his body,
according to that he hath done, whether it
be good or bad.
The verse begins, “For
we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ;” Paul
began with the word, “for”
which means “even
as, indeed, seeing then, no doubt, verily and therefore” “we
must all” or “it is
necessary for each, every, the whole and everyone to” “appear”
which means “make manifest or visible or known what has been hidden
or unknown” “before the judgment seat”
or “in front of and in the presence of the platform, tribune and
official seat of a judge” “of Christ”
which refers to “the anointed One, the Messiah and the Son of God”.
Paul declared every believer in Jesus “must appear” before His
throne of “judgment”.
The verse goes on to say, “that
every one may receive the things done
in his body,
according to that he has done, whether it
be good or bad.”
Paul continued with the words, “that every
one” which
means “so every person” “may
receive”
which refers to “might obtain the promised blessing for” “the
things done in”
or “through and within” “his
body”
which means “the person's living corpse”, “according”
or “towards and in regard” “to
that he has done”
which means “the person has through and within”, “whether”
or “if” “it be good”
which means “the thing done is of good, pleasant, agreeable,
joyful, happy and excellent constitution or nature”
“or bad”
which refers to “or base, wrong or wicked”.
Paul shared how each believer in Jesus shall
“receive the things”
“according to” the “good or bad”
works they do in their bodies.
When we think through
these words of Paul, we see how works are to be judged at the
“judgment seat of Christ”. This judgment is for Christian
works, and Jesus will be the one who decides whether they are “good
or bad”. Every person who believes and trusts in Jesus will be
“judged”, and it is wonderful to know that He shall do so
with “love and grace”. Let all who read these words know and
understand the judgment that is destined for Christians, and may we
be about good works until that day comes.
Next
time Paul shares with the church members what they should do,
“knowing the terror of the Lord”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then,
Until
tomorrow…there is more…
