Paul
the apostle told
the church members in Corinth, “for
if that which is done away was
glorious, much more that which remains is
glorious” as
he shared with them about the Old and New Covenant, and
in
chapter three and verse twelve of Second Corinthians, Paul told the
church members what he and his companions responded, “seeing
then that we have such hope...”,
where we read:
Seeing
then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech:
The verse begins, “Seeing
then that we have such hope, ...” Paul began with the
word, “seeing then”
or “therefore, accordingly,
consequently and these things being so” “that we have”
which means “that Paul and his
companions hold, own and possess” “such hope”
which means “this sort or kind of expectation and faith”.
Paul acknowledged and recognized the “hope” which was in
him and his companions.
The verse goes on to say,
“ … we use
great plainness of speech”.
Paul continued with the words, “we use”
which means “Paul and his companions receive and take for their own
use” “great” or
“many, much and large” “plainness of
speech” which refers to “freedom, open,
frank, without concealment or ambiguity or circumlocution, cheerful
courage, boldness, assurance and unreservedness in speaking”.
Because Paul and his companion had “such
hope” concerning the New Covenant, they
employed “freedom in speaking” concerning it.
When we meditate upon
these words of Paul, we see the liberty he and his companions had
concerning the New Covenant. The “gospel” or “good news”
of Jesus Christ is available because He fulfilled the law of the Old
Covenant, and now we have access to forgiveness of sins. Jesus did
the work, and now all that is required is that we “believe”
in Him. We, like Paul and his companions, have “such hope”
in Jesus Christ that we are able to share “freely” with others
concerning His great work, and this “hope” has allowed
everyone who believes to share about Him in a “free” and “easy”
way.
Next
time Paul shares with the church members,
“not as Moses, which put a vail over his face”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then,
Until
tomorrow…there is more…
