Paul
the apostle told the Corinthian church members he and his companions,
“we are ambassadors for Christ, as
though God did beseech you
by us” and
he exhorted, “we pray you
in Christ's stead, be you reconciled to God.
In
chapter five and verse twenty-one of Second Corinthians, Paul told
the church members how God has made Jesus, “to
be sin for us, who knew no sin”
where we read:
that we
might be made the righteousness of God in him.
The
verse begins, “For he has made him to
be sin for us, who knew no sin;”
Paul began with the word, “for”
which
means “even as, indeed, seeing then, no doubt, verily and
therefore” “he made him” or
“God fashioned, produced, constructed and formed Jesus” “to
be sin”
which refers to “to be as those who miss the mark, err, are
mistaken and wander from the law of God” “for
us” or “on
behalf of Paul, his companions and the church members”, “who
knew no sin”
which means “Jesus never missed the mark, erred, was mistaken or
wandered from the law of God”. Paul
shared how God “fashioned and formed” perfect Jesus so He would
become “sin” for
every person.
The verse goes on to say,
“ that we might be made the
righteousness of God in him.”
Paul added the words, “that we might be
made”
which means “so Paul, his companions and the church members might
be fashioned, produced, constructed and formed as” “the
righteousness”
or “the state of him who is as he ought to be and the condition
acceptable” “of God”
which means “to the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised
of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit” “in
him” or
“in Jesus”. Paul shared how we were
“fashioned in an acceptable way to God” when Jesus became “sin
for us”.
When we meditate upon
these words of Paul, we marvel at the idea that Jesus would become
“sin for us”. In other words, He took our position of
“separation from God” through “error, mistakes and wandering
from the law of God”, and now everyone who “believes and trusts
in” Jesus shall receive “the righteousness of God”. We
may wonder why anyone would reject this amazing offer from God, and
yet, there are some who refuse to believe. Nonetheless, Jesus died
for their “sins”, became “sin” for them and
patiently waits until they realize His great sacrifice so He can
“fashion” them as “the righteousness of God”.
Next
time we begin as new chapter and see Paul tell the church members,
“receive not the grace of God in
vain.”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then,
Until
tomorrow…there is more…
