Matthew the apostle wrote how how Jesus said, “a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven. And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved?”, and in chapter nineteen and verse twenty-six of his book, Matthew shares how Jesus said, “with God all things are possible” where we read:
But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible;
but with God all things are possible.
The verse reads, “But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible;”. Matthew began with the word, “but” or “moreover and” “Jesus” which refers to “the Son of God, the Savior of mankind and God incarnate whose name means Jehovah is salvation” “beheld them” which means “looked and gazed upon His disciples” “and said unto them” or “and uttered, declared and proclaimed to His disciples”, “with men” which refers to “people whether male or female” “this is impossible” which means “being saved is impotent, powerless, weak and disabled among people”. Matthew shared how Jesus said people are “impotent” to “save” themselves eternally.
The verse continues, “ but with God all things are possible.” Matthew added the words, “but with God” or “nevertheless, nonetheless, moreover and along with the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit” “all things” which means “each, the whole and every thing that may be done” “are possible” or “are able, mighty, strong in soul and mighty in wealth and influence”. Matthew wrote how Jesus said “everything that may be obtained” is within the realm of God's capability.
When we consider Matthew's words in this verse, we see how Jesus declared that “mankind” is unable to “save” themselves eternally, however, “God Himself” is able to fulfill that which man cannot complete. Jesus Christ came to the world to offer “everlasting life” to everyone who believes and trusts in Him. (“For God so loved the world, that He sent His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him, should not perish, but have everlasting life” John 3:16) Let all who consider these things realize God is their only hope for “eternal life”, and every person who submits their lives to Him shall be “saved” and “saved indeed”.
Next time Matthew shares how Peter told Jesus, “we have forsaken all, and followed you”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
