Keeping What Moses Commanded - Joshua 22:2

In the book of Joshua, we learned how, “Joshua called the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasseh, …”, and in chapter twenty-two and verse two of Joshua we learn how Joshua told the Reubenites, Gadites and the half tribe of Manasseh, “You have kept all that Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you” where we read, 

And said unto them, You have kept all that Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you, 

and have obeyed my voice in all that I commanded you:

The verse reads, “And said unto them, You have kept all that Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you, …” Joshua or the writer began with the words, “and said unto them” which means “and uttered, declared and proclaimed to them, “the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasseh”, “you have kept all that Moses” or “you, Reubenites,  Gadites, and half tribe of Manasseh, have given heed to, observed and protected each, the whole and everything that Moses whose name means ‘drawn out’ and was the prophet, lawgiver and leader of the exodus” “the servant of the LORD” which means “he proper name the bondman, slave and man of servile condition belonging to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “commanded you” or “charged and ordered you, “Reubenites, Gadites, and half tribe of Manasseh”. Joshua or the writer shared how Joshua acknowledged that “the Reubenites, and Gadites, and half tribe of Manasseh” observed everything that “Moses”, God’s bondman, charged and ordered. 

The verse continues, “… and have obeyed my voice in all that I commanded you:” Joshua or the writer added the words, “and have obeyed my voice” which means “and have given heed to, listened and given attention to my, Joshua’s, sound and noise of uttered words” “in all that I commanded you” or “in each, the whole and everything that I, Joshua, charged and ordered you, “Reubenites, Gadites, and half tribe of Manasseh”. Joshua or the writer told “the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasseh” that they had observed his sound of uttered words and the charges given to them.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we discover how “Joshua” acknowledged the obedience of “the Reubenites, and the Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasseh” because they kept all of his and “Moses’” and commands given by Joshua. God want us to obey Him, and when we receive His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins all mankind and was raised from the grave after three days, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and put His Holy Spirit within us to guide us into all truth and will help us be obedient to whatever He orders in our lives. (See John 3:16; 16:13; Acts 1:8; Revelation 4:11)

Next time Joshua tells the Reubenites, Gadites and the half tribe of Manasseh, “you have not left your brethren these many days unto this day”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
