In the book of Joshua, we learned how Joshua told the Reubenites, Gadites and the half tribe of Manasseh, “take diligent heed to do the commandment and the law, which Moses the servant of the LORD charged you, to love the LORD your God, and to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and to cleave unto him, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul”, and in chapter twenty-two and verse six of Joshua we learn how “Joshua blessed them, and sent them away” where we read,
So Joshua blessed them, and sent them away: and they went unto their tents.
The verse reads, “So Joshua blessed them, and sent them away:” Joshua or the writer began with the words, “so Joshua blessed them” which means “therefore, then and on this account Joshua whose name means Jehovah is salvation saluted and thanked them, the Reubenties, Gadites and the half tribe of Manasseh”, “and sent them away” or “put, directed and dismissed them, the Reubenties, Gadites and the half tribe of Manasseh”. Joshua or the writer shared how “Joshua” saluted and thanked the Reubenties, Gadites and the half tribe of Manasseh and dismissed them.
The verse continues, “and they went unto their tents.” Joshua or the writer added the words, “to love the LORD your God” which means "to have desire and breath after Jehovah whose name means the existing One and is the proper name of the One True God your, the Reubenties, Gadites and the half tribe of Manasseh’s, Supreme Deity”, “and they” or “and the Reubenties, Gadites and the half tribe of Manasseh” “went unto their tents” which means “left and departed to their, the Reubenties, Gadites and the half tribe of Manasseh’s, transient dwellings, homes and habitations”. Joshua or the writer said the Reubenties, Gadites and the half tribe of Manasseh departed to their habitations and homes.
When we think through the words in this verse, we learn how Joshua gave praise, honor and thanks to the Reubenties, Gadites and the half tribe of Manasseh, and they departed for home. They completed their mission and fulfilled their oath to help the other tribes of Israel to inherit their promise land, and now they could return to their own land. God wants us to be involved in His Kingdom, and the initiation for that process is to receive His Son Jesus who died on the cross for our sins and was raised from the dead after three days. When we yield to Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and give us His Holy Spirit who will guide us into all truth and empower us to live according to that truth so we may complete our mission and go to our Heavenly home with Him. (See John 3:16; 16:13; Acts 1:8; Revelation 4:11)
