In the book of Daniel, Daniel said, “I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed”, and in chapter seven and verse fifteen of his book Daniel said, “I Daniel was grieved in my spirit in the midst of my body” where we read,
I Daniel was grieved in my spirit in the midst of my body,
and the visions of my head troubled me.
The verse reads, “I Daniel was grieved in my spirit in the midst of my body, …” Daniel began with the words, “I Daniel” or “I, Daniel whose name means God is my judge” “was grieved in my spirit” which means “existed as suffering and distressed within my, Daniel’s, mind, will and emotions” “in the midst of my body” or “within the middle and center portion of my, Daniel’s, physical body”. Daniel shared how he was distressed within his mind and soul within the middle portion of his physical body.
The verse goes on to say, “… and the visions of my head troubled me.” Daniel continued with the words, “and the visions” or “and the sightings or appearances” “of my head” which means “pertaining to my, Daniel’s, chief portion of his mind” “troubled me” or “frightened, alarmed and terrified me, Daniel”. Daniel shared how the sighting that he observed within his mind caused him to be frightened and terrified.
When we consider the words in this verse, we learn how Daniel responded the the “dream and vision” that he observed. Not only was he greatly distressed, but he was also frightened by what he saw. Let us keep in mind that God Almighty chose Daniel to receive these appearances, and although Daniel may not have been able to handle them on his own, God would help him and us as he learns what these things meant. God’s desire is to have an intimate personal relationship with us like Daniel, and when we surrender our lives to His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind and was raised from the dead after three days, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and equip us with His Holy Spirit who shall guide us into all truth and accompany us as we receive whatever He chooses to reveal to us.
Next time Daniel says, “I came near unto one of them that stood by, and asked him the truth of all this”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
