In the book of Daniel, Daniel said, “I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him”, and in chapter seven and verse fourteen of his book Daniel shared how “there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom” where we read,
And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.
The verse reads, “And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him:” Daniel began with the words, “and there was given him dominion” or “and there was granted, bestowed and assigned to him, the Son of man, sovereignty”, “and glory” which means “and honor and esteem”, “and a kingdom” or “and a royal realm and rule and kingly authority”, “that all people” which means “so each, every, the whole and every human being”, “nations” or “people groups and tribes”, “and languages” which means “and tongues”, “should serve him” or “would minister to him, the Son of man”. Daniel shared how the “Son of man” was granted sovereignty, honor, esteem, a royal realm and kingly authority so every human being, people groups and tongues would be able to minister to Him.
The verse continues, “his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.” Daniel added words, “his dominion” or “his, the Son of man’s, sovereignty” “is an everlasting dominion” which means “exists as an eternal, forever and perpetual sovereignty”, “which shall not pass away” or “that will in no way or manner depart or be removed”, “and his kingdom” which means “and his, the Son of man’s, royal realm and rule” “that which shall not be destroyed” or “is a kingdom that will in no way or manner become hurt and ruined”. Daniel shared how the sovereignty of the “Son of man” would be an eternal sovereignty that will exist unto perpetuity, and His royal reign will never be hurt or ruined.
When we think through the words in this verse, we learn through Daniel how the “Son of man” would not only receive sovereignty, but would also enjoy honor, esteem and kingly authority that would be available to everyone everywhere. This “kingdom” will last forever, and it shall never be ruined or “destroyed”. This speaks to the everlasting “Kingdom of God” into which everyone is invited and may gain by receiving His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind and was resurrected from the dead after three days. He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and provide us with His Holy Spirit who will guide us into all truth and help us to live according to His ways as we perpetually grow in our relationship with Him.
Next time Daniel says, “I Daniel was grieved in my spirit in the midst of my body”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
