Great Words Spoken by the Horn - Daniel 7:11

In the book of Daniel, Daniel said, “I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire. A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened”, and in chapter seven and verse eleven of his book Daniel said, “I beheld then because of the voice of the great words which the horn spoke” where we read,

I beheld then because of the voice of the great words which the horn spoke:

I beheld even till the beast was slain, and his body destroyed, and given to the burning flame.

The verse reads, “I beheld then because of the voice of the great words which the horn spoke:” Daniel began with the words, “I beheld then” or “I, Daniel, looked, noticed and observed at that time” “because of the voice” which means “since and on account of the sound and noise” “of the great words” or “pertaining to the chief and domineering utterances, discourse and commands”: “which the horn spoke” which means “that the protrusion or musical instrument uttered, declared or proclaimed”. Daniel shared how he observed on account of the sound of the domineering utterances spoken by the small protrusion.

The verse continues, “I beheld even till the beast was slain, and his body destroyed, and given to the burning flame.” Daniel added words, “I beheld” or “I, Daniel, looked, noticed and observed” “till the beast was slain” which means “until the large animal was killed”, “and his body destroyed” or “and his, the beast’s, physical body perished and was passed away”, “and given to the burning flame” which means “and delivered or yielded to the fiery conflagration”. Daniel shared how he continued to watch until such time that the “large animal” was killed, his physical body perished and was yielded to the “burning” fiery fire.

When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through Daniel how he gave attention to the last of the large creatures on account of the domineering utterances from the small horn that arose in the midst of the “ten horns”. He kept watching until that creature was killed and it’s body given to a burning fire. The “Ancient of days”, God Almighty endures all kingdoms of men and empires that arise on the earth, and none of them are more powerful than He. This same omnipotent God desires to have a personal relationship with us through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind and was raised from the dead after three days. When we surrender to Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and give us His Holy Spirit who will keep us in alignment with Him and His ways in this life and the next.

Next time Daniel shares about, “the rest of the beasts”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
