The Rest of the Beasts - Daniel 7:12

In the book of Daniel, Daniel said, “I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire. A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened. I beheld then because of the voice of the great words which the horn spoke: I beheld even till the beast was slain, and his body destroyed, and given to the burning flame”, and in chapter seven and verse twelve of his book Daniel shared about, “the rest of the beasts” where we read,

As concerning the rest of the beasts, they had their dominion taken away:

yet their lives were prolonged for a season and time.

The verse reads, “As concerning the rest of the beasts, they had their dominion taken away:” Daniel began with the words, “as concerning” or “and for” “the rest of the beasts” which means “the residue and remainder pertaining to the large animals”, “they had their dominion” or “they, the remainder of the large beasts, had their sovereignty” “taken away” which means “deposed and removed”. Daniel shared how the remainder of the large animals had their sovereignty removed.

The verse continues, “yet their lives were prolonged for a season and time.” Daniel added words, “yet their lives were prolonged” or “still their, the large animals’, ability to remain alive was lengthened” “for a season” which means “for a set time” “and a time” or “and a set year”. Daniel said the ability to remain alive was lengthened for a set time and year.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn through Daniel how the “beasts” he observed in his dream had their sovereignty removed even though they were allowed to remain alive for a set amount of time. We shall see more about what this means in our later verses, but for now let us be reminded that God was in control of all these things. This is the way God chose to reveal His plan to Daniel for the salvation of mankind, and all of these sightings would lead to God sending His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of everyone. God  raised Jesus from the dead after three days, and when we yield to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and give us understanding by His Holy Spirit concerning His ways and purposes among people and the redemption He longs to give them.

Next time Daniel observes, “one like the Son of man”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
