“None of
the princes of this world knew” the
“wisdom”
Paul and his companions shared concerning the “gospel
of Jesus Christ”
because if they did, “the would not
have crucified the Lord of glory”.
In chapter two and verse eleven of First
Corinthians, Paul the apostle continued his letter by sharing how he
and his companions “speak the wisdom
of God in a mystery”
where we read:
For
what man knows the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is
in him?
even
so the things of God knows no man, but the Spirit of God.
The
verse begins, “For
what man knows the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is
in him?” Paul
began with the word, “For”
which means “even as, indeed, no doubt, seeing then, verily and
therefore “what man”
or “who is the human being whether male or female who” “knows”
which means “perceives, notices, discerns and discovers” “of
a man”
which refers to “a human being whether male or female”, “save”
or “if not and except” “the
spirit”
which refers to “the vital principal by which the body is animated”
“of man”
or “of a human being whether male or female” “which
is in him”
which means “that is by and with the human being whether male or
female”?. Paul question who among people really know what is in the
“spirit”
of a person except for that person themself.
The
verse continues, “even
so the things of God knows no man, but the Spirit of God.”.
Paul added
the words, “even so” which
means “also in this manner and thus” “the
things of God”
which refers to “the things that belong to the Godhead bodily and
trinity which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the
Holy Spirit” “knows”
or “perceives, notices, discerns and discovers” “no
man” which
means “no human being whether male or female”, “but”
which is a disassociation conjunction that means what is about to be
written takes precedence over what was just stated “the
Spirit” or
“the third person of the triune God, the Holy Spirit who is coequal
and coeternal with the Father and the Son” “of
God” which
refers to “the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God
the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit”. No person is able
to “discern and discover” all the “things”
that pertain to God Almighty, however, His Holy Spirit does.
When
we consider these words from Paul, we understand how he is attempting
to show how God knows not only Himself, but also every person who has
ever lived. Each person has been given the ability to “know”
what is within their spirit, but they are limited when “perceiving”
the “things of God”. God knows both Himself and us, and He
provided Jesus Christ because He knew the sin that was within us.
When God “reveals” our sinful state and our need for a “savior”,
we shall also know our need for Jesus Christ and His sacrifice for
our sins. May all who read these words not only “know”
about themselves and God to their limited degree, but may they reach
out to the one to whom none of us are a mystery.
Next
time Paul shares how he and his companions have “received,
not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
