While
referring to sharing the “gospel of
Jesus Christ”,
Paul the apostle declared, “he that
plants”
and “he that waters”
are not “any thing”,
because it is “God that gives the
increase” ,
and in chapter three and verse eight of
First Corinthians, Paul shared with the
Corinthian church members how he that “plants
and waters are one”
and “each man shall receive
his own reward”
where we read:
Now he
that plants and he that waters are one:
and
every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labor.
The
verse begins, “Now
he that plants and he that waters are one:”
Paul began
with the word, “Now” which
means “moreover and” “he that
plants” or
“the person who sets out in the earth” or “instills doctrine”
“and he that waters”
which means “the person who gives and makes to drink or imbues or
saturates another's mind” “are one”
or “are the same and united”. Paul considered both “servants”
whether they “planted or watered”
the same.
The
verse goes on to say, “and
every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labor.”.
Paul
continued with the words, “and every
man” which
refers to “each of the people who plants or waters” “shall
receive” which
means “will take, lay hold of, claim, procure, seize and apprehend”
“his own”
or “the person themself's” “reward”
which means “dues paid for work, hire, wages and pay for service”
“according”
or “down from, through out, toward and along” “to
his own”
which refers to “pertaining to and belonging to one's own self”
“labor”
or “intense labor united with trouble and toil”.
Each
person shall “receive”
“wages or pay” for their “labor” in
the “gospel”.
When
we meditate upon these words from Paul, we see how services by people
in the ministry will be “rewarded” according to the
“labor” which is performed. Though “God gives the
increase” in the “gospel”, He promises to “pay for
services” people do for Him. Each person, whether they “plant”
or “water” in the kingdom of God, shall be rewarded for
their work, and since Jesus Christ “crucified” is the
message we are sharing with others, the “rewards” will be
another blessing from God. Let all who read these words be busy about
“planting” and “watering” the “gospel”
of Jesus Christ with others.
Next
time Paul shares how we are “laborers
together with God”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
