Paul
the apostle shared how “the wisdom of
this world is foolishness with God”,
and he referred to written scripture where it says, “he
takes the wise in their own craftiness”. In
chapter three and verse twenty of First Corinthians, Paul shared how
“the Lord knows the” “vain”
“thoughts of the wise”
where we read:
And
again, The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain.
The
verse begins, “And
again, The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise,...”
Paul began
with the words, “And again” which
means “and further, in turn and on the other hand”, “The
Lord”
which refers to “he to whom a person or thing belongs, about which
he has power of deciding; master and the title given to God the
Messiah” “knows”
which means “understands, perceives and is acquainted with” “the
thoughts”
which refers to “the inward reasoning, purpose and design” “of
the wise”
or “the skilled, experts and cultivators”. God knows and is
“acquainted with” all the “inward reasoning” of the “wise
of this world.
The
verse goes on to say, “...that
they are vain.”. Paul
continued with the words, “that they
are” which
means “that the thoughts of the wise are” “vain”
or “devoid
of force, truth, success, useless and of no purpose”. Paul
disclosed how God knew the “thoughts” of the “wise
in this world”
are “useless and of no purpose”.
When
we meditate upon these words from Paul, we see how he is confirming
once again how God knows how “useless, devoid of force and truth”
are the “inward reasonings” of “wise in this world”
God set forth the plan of salvation through His Son Jesus Christ, and
though people who are “skilled and expert” present their ideas,
God knows they are “eternally useless”. If we desire to be
“eternally wise”, we shall align ourselves with Jesus Christ and
the “wisdom” of “salvation” God made available through
Him.
Next
time Paul tells the Corinthians, “let
no man glory in men”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
