Paul
the apostle told the Corinthians, “the
natural man receives not the things of the Spirit of God”
because “they are foolishness unto
him”. Paul
wrote that the “natural man”
could not “know them, because they
are spiritually discerned”.
In chapter two and verse fifteen of First
Corinthians, Paul the apostle continued his letter by sharing how “he
that is spiritual judges all things”
where we read:
But he
that is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is judged of no
man.
The
verse begins, “But
he that is spiritual judges all things,...”
Paul began
with the word, “But” which
is a disassociation conjunction that means what is about to be
written takes precedence over what was just stated “he
that is spiritual”
or “the person who is filled with and governed by the Spirit of
God” “judges”
which means “examines, investigates, inquires, scrutinizes, sifts
and questions truly, certainly, surely and indeed”
“all things”
or “each, every, any, the whole, everyone and everything”. The
“spiritual”
man is able to “examine and scrutinize” anything necessary.
The
verse goes on to say, “...yet
he himself is judged of no man.”.
Paul
continued with the word, “yet”
which means
“moreover and” “he himself”
or “the person who is spiritual” “is
judged” or
“is examined, investigated, inquired, scrutinized, sifted and
questioned” “of no man”
which means “by no person or nobody”. The “spiritual”
man has no
need to be “examined and scrutinized” by other people.
When
we meditate upon these words from Paul, we see the advantage to being
“spiritual”. The person who is “spiritually”
minded is able to “discern” things which are “spiritual”
which allows exemption from being “examined” by others. Though
people may attempt to “judge” them, they are “spiritually
minded” and it doesn't phase them. Jesus Christ came to “save”
people “eternally”, and this is a “spiritual”
work. Those who are “spiritual” shall know what this
means, and no judgment from man shall turn them aside.
Next
time Paul asks “who
has know the mind of the Lord?”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
