God's Word, Jesus' Testimony and Things Saw Revelation 1:2

John the apostle began the book of “Revelation” with the words, “The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to show unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass” and he told how Jesus “sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John”. In chapter one and verse two of Revelation, John shared how he, “bare record of the word of God, the testimony of Jesus” and “of all things that he saw” where we read:

Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ,
and of all things that he saw.

The verse begins, “Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, ...” John began with the words, “who bare record” which means “John was witness to, affirmed what he saw, heard and experienced and gave testimony” “of the word” whose name means “pertaining to the decree, mandate, order, dictum, aphorism and maxim” “of God” which refers to “the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit”, “and of the testimony” which refers to “the record, report, witness and evidence given” “of Jesus” whose name means “Jehovah is Salvation” and is “the Son of God, the Savior of mankind and God incarnate “Christ” which refers to “the anointed One, the Messiah and the Son of God”. John was a personal “witness” who “bore record” of God's “word” and Jesus' “witness and report”.

The verse continues, “and of all things that he saw.” John added the words, “and of all things” or “pertaining to each, every, the whole and everyone of whatsoever and how many great things” “that he saw” which means “that John perceived, noticed, discerned and discovered”. John “bore record” of everything that he perceived from the Lord.

When we consider John's words in this verse, we see how it was important for him to declare how he actually “saw” and was a “witness” to the things he is going to declare. “The word of God, the testimony of Jesus Christ and “all things that he saw” were noted in his “testimony”. God desires to have a relationship with people through “His word”, through “Jesus' testimony” and by “all things” that they see, and as we consider John's record, we should realize that “Almighty God” is calling for everyone to “receive and believe” the things He declares. Salvation is available through Jesus Christ God's Son, and those who are wise shall acknowledge and accept God's “testimony” given through the apostle John.

Next time we shall see John the apostle share how people are “blessed” who, “read, hear and keep those words written therein“, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
