Seven Golden Candlesticks Revelation 1:12

John the apostle continued to share the “Revelation” which was given to him by Jesus Christ through an angel, and he told how he, “was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet, Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What you see, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia;”. John added the names of those churches which were, “unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea”, and in chapter one and verse twelve of Revelation, John told his readers, “I turned to see the voice that spake with me” and he “saw seven golden candlesticks” where we read:

And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks;

The verse begins, “And I turned to see the voice that spoke with me.” John began with the words, “and I turned” which means “and Paul turned his body” “to see” or “to look at, observe and discern” “the voice” which means “the sound and tone of uttered words and language” “that spoke” or “that uttered, emitted sound and talked” “with me” or “after and behind John”. After John heard the “voice like a trumpet” which was behind him, he “turned his body around” to “view” from whom the “voice” came.

The verse continues, “And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks;” John added the words, “And being turned” or “after John was turned around”, “I saw seven golden candlesticks” which means “John saw seven overlaid with gold lamp stands or candelabrum”. When John “turned” to see the “voice like a trumpet”, he saw the “seven golden candles” within a “candelabrum” or “lamp stand”.

When we meditate upon John's words in this verse, we may be able to imagine the “golden candelabrum” which John saw. First he heard “a voice like a trumpet” which drew his attention, and when he “turned” to see from where it came, he saw the “seven candlesticks”. Each of these were planned by God who desired for John to see and hear these things, and we should keep in mind that God has a plan of “salvation” or mankind. Everyone who receives His Son Jesus as their personal “Savior and Lord” shall have “everlasting life” and the intentions of God with the “voice of a trumpet” and “seven golden candlesticks” shall be completely fulfilled.

Next time John shares how he saw, “in the midst of the seven candlesticks on like unto the Son of man”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
