John
the apostle saw the “throne”
of God and all it's glory in heaven, and he shared how there,
“were
four beasts full of eyes before and behind”.
He continued to describe the beasts as he wrote,“And
the first beast was
like a lion, and the second beast like a calf, and the third beast
had a face as a man, and the fourth beast was
like a flying eagle”,
and he added, “And
the four beasts had each of them six wings about him;
and they
were
full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy,
holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.”
In chapter four and verse nine of Revelation John saw and heard
“those
beasts give glory and honor and thanks to him that sat on the throne”
where
we read:
And
when those beasts give glory and honor and thanks to him that sat on
the throne,
who
lives for ever and ever,
The
verse reads, “And
when those beasts give glory and honor and thanks to him that sat on
the throne, ...”
John
began with the words, “and
when those beasts”
which means “at the present time and moment that the living beings”
“give
glory”
or “granted, bestowed, supplied and furnished splendor, brightness,
honor, magnificence, excellence, preeminence, dignity and grace”
“and honor” which
means “and value, deference and reverence” “and
thanks” or
“gratitude, grateful language and thankfulness” “to
him”
or “toward God” “that
sat”
which refers to “who was seated, fixed and dwelt” “on
the throne”
which means “upon the chair of state which has a footstool and
hence power belonging to Christ”. John noted the time when the
“four living beings” gave “glory,
honor and thanks”
to God who was sitting upon His “throne”.
The
verse goes on to say, “... who
lives for ever and ever” John
added the words, ““who
lives”
which means “that is active, blessed and endless in His kingdom”
“for
ever”
which means “unto the unbroken age, perpetuity of time and
eternity” “and
ever”
or “and the unbroken age, perpetuity of time and eternity”. John
shared how these “living beings” attributed and declared the
“eternal and everlasting life” God who is “seated
upon His throne”.
When
we consider John's words in this verse, we recognize the “eternal
nature” of God Almighty. The “four living beings” declared His
“glory and honor” and gave “thanks” unto Him
who is “worthy” of all praise. God desires to have a relationship
with people who recognize how awesome and valuable He is, and when
they align themselves with His Son Jesus, they too may participate in
the wonderful activities which John saw. May all who read these words
consider what it would be like to be in heaven seeing and hearing
these things, and they submit themselves to Jesus who is the only One
who grants the way to this “eternal” living.
Next
time
we see what happens when “those
beasts give glory and honor and thanks to him that sat on the
throne”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until
tomorrow…there is more…
