As
John continued to share concerning the events during the tribulation,
He wrote about the antichrist, the false prophet and the angels who
were involved in the reaping of the harvest of believers who received
the Lord Jesus during that time.
John wrote about the first, second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth
angel pouring out their “vials
filled with the wrath of God”,
and he continued by writing,
“And the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air; and there
came a great voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne,
saying, It is done. And there were voices, and thunders, and
lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since
men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great. And
the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the
nations fell: and great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to
give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath.”
In
chapter sixteen and verse twenty of Revelation John shares how “every
island fled...and the mountains were not found”
where
we read:
The
verse reads, “And
every island fled away, ...”
John
began with the words, “and
every island”
which means “and each, the whole, all and everyone of the isle
lands surrounded by water” “fled
away”
or “vanished”. John watched as all the “islands”
upon the earth “vanished” after the earthquake.
The
verse continues, “...
and the mountains were not found.”
John
added the words, “and
the mountains”
which means “the places where the earth lifts itself above the
plain” “were
not found” or
“could not be discovered, observed, seen or perceived”. John
watched as all the “mountains
and their ranges” were completely gone from the earth.
When
we think through John's words in this verse, we can imagine the
damage this giant “earthquake” causes upon the earth. The
waters of the earth no doubt flooded at so a great level that
“islands” disappeared, and “mountains” could
not be “found”. God created the “earth”, and He can certainly
allow whatever He desires upon it. People who are wise understand the
magnitude of God's power, and when He relinquishes control over the
natural elements, nothing is off limits to Him. This same God desires
to have a one on one personal relationship with every person who will
receive His Son Jesus as their “Savior and Lord”, and should
there be any desire to live in the mountains or the islands, there
will be none after this “earthquake” occurs.
Next
time John shares how, “there
fell upon men a great hail out of heaven”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until
tomorrow…there is more…
