True and Righteous are God's Judgments Revelation 19:2

An “angel” from heaven showed John the apostle many things which will occur in the tribulation time on the earth, and John wrote about commercial Babylon's destruction and the people who were affected by it. In chapter nineteen and verse one of Revelation, John wrote, “And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven, saying, Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honor, and power, unto the Lord our God:”, and in verse two John shares how the “people” speaking about God say, “true and righteous are his judgments” where we read:

For true and righteous are his judgments: for he has judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and has avenged the blood of his servants at her hand.

The verse reads, For true and righteous are his judgments: for he has judged the great whore, ... John began with the words, “for true” which refers to “because, since and on account of veracious, sincere and opposite to what is imperfect, defective, frail and uncertain” “and righteous” or “innocent, faultless and guiltless” “are his judgments” which means “are God's sentence of condemnation, damnation, punishment, opinion and decision given concerning anything”: “for he has judged” or “because, since and on account that God has separated, put asunder, decreed and pronounced damnation on” “the great whore” which refers to “the massive, large, splendid and grand spiritual idolatrous”. The “people” proclaimed the “veracity” and “guiltless” “judgments” of God because He “put asunder” the “great whore” which was “Babylon”.

The verse continues, “... which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and has avenged the blood of his servants at her hand. John added the words, “which did corrupt” which means “who damaged, destroyed, depraved and perished” “the earth” or “the arable land, country, territory or region” “with her fornication” or “spiritual idolatry”, “and has avenged” which means “has vindicated, defended, and punished” “the blood” or “the bloodshed” “of his servants” which refers to “pertaining to God's bondmen and those of servile condition” “at her hand” which means “helped, upheld and caused by Babylon”. “Babylon” was indited for their influence upon people to worship “other gods”, and God punished the city for it.

When we think through John's words in this verse, we see how “Babylon” may have thought themselves in control and of great influence without retribution at one time. However, the “true and righteous judgment” of God had not fallen upon them at this point, but it was certain to fall. God desires for people to follow after Him, put away all other “gods” and receive His Son Jesus Christ as “Savior and Lord”. “Babylon” convinced people that other things were more important than a personal relationship with God, and as a result, they suffered His wrath and woe be to those who follow their path.

Next time John hears this choir declare, Alleluia. And her smoke rose up for ever and ever”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
