An
“angel”
from heaven showed John the apostle many things which will occur in
the tribulation time on the earth, and John wrote about commercial
Babylon's destruction and the people who were affected by it. John
continued to write,
“And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in
heaven, saying, Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honor, and power,
unto the Lord our God: For true and righteous are
his judgments: for he has judged the great whore, which did corrupt
the earth with her fornication, and has avenged the blood of his
servants at her hand. And again they said, Alleluia. And her smoke
rose up for ever and ever .And the four and twenty elders and the
four beasts fell down and worshiped God that sat on the throne,
saying, Amen; Alleluia. And a voice came out of the throne, saying,
Praise our God, all you his servants, and you that fear him, both
small and great. And I heard as it were the voice of a great
multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of
mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent
reigns. Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honor to him: for the
marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife has made herself ready.
And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen,
clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.
And he says unto me, Write, Blessed are
they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he
said unto me, These are the true sayings of God. And I fell at his
feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See you
do it
not: I am your fellow-servant, and of your brethren that have the
testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the
spirit of prophecy”,
and in Revelation chapter nineteen and verse eleven John saw “a
white horse; , and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True”
where
we read:
And
I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon
him was
called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make
war.
The
verse reads, “And
I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse;”
John began with the words, “and
I saw”
which means “and John perceived, noticed, discovered and discerned”
“heaven”
or “the region above the sidereal heavens and the seat of order of
things eternal and consummately perfect where God dwells and other
heavenly beings” “opened”
which means “stood or was open”, “and
behold”
or “lo and see” “a
white horse”
which means “a horse which was light, brilliant and dazzling from
it's splendor”. John watched as “heaven”
stood open, and he saw a “splendidly bright and dazzling white
colored” “horse”.
The
verse continues, “and
he that sat upon him was
called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make
war.”
John added the words, “and
he that sat”
which means “and the One who was seated and road” “upon
him” or
“on the “white dazzling horse” “was
called”
which means “was named and saluted as” “Faithful”
or “the person who shows themselves faithful in the transaction of
business, the execution of commands, or the discharge of official
duties”
“and True”
which means “that which has not only the name and resemblance, but
the real nature corresponding to the name and in every respect
corresponding to the idea signified by the name, real and genuine”,
“and
in righteousness”
or “in the state of him who is as he ought to be and the condition
acceptable to God ” “he
does judge”
which means “this One riding the white horse resolves, decrees,
pronounces an opinion concerning right and wrong, rules and governs
over”
“and make war”
or “and produces, carries on and engages in battle”. John heard
the
“voice from heaven”
declare this One on the horse to have the attributes of
“faithfulness, truth and righteousness” as He “makes decrees”
and engages in battle.
When
we think through John's words in this verse, we see that this one
upon “the
white horse”
is “faithful”
to God's directives, and He engages in battle according to the
“truth” of God. Jesus proclaimed, “I
am the way, the truth and the life, and no man comes to the Father,
but by me”.
(John 14:6) Jesus is the One riding upon this “brilliant white
horse”,
and He prepares Himself and His army to engage in battle against
those who oppose Him. God desires for every person to be in a
relationship with Him through His Son Jesus, and those who do shall
follow this mighty warrior Jesus upon His “white
horse”,
but woe be to those who even dare to oppose Him.
Next
time
John saw how, “his
eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
