An
angel showed John the apostle the “great
whore”
who was sitting upon a “scarlet
colored beast”
and was “arrayed in purple and scarlet color, and decked with gold
and precious stones and pearls”. He continued to write,
“And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven,
having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory. And
he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is
fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the
hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful
bird. For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her
fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication
with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the
abundance of her delicacies. And I heard another voice from heaven,
saying, Come out of her, my people, that you be not partakers of her
sins, and that you receive not of her plagues.”
In chapter eighteen and verse five of Revelation another voice shouts
“sins
have reached unto heaven”
where
we read:
The
verse reads, “For
her sins have reached unto heaven, ...”
John began with the word, “for”
which means “because, since and on account of” “her
sins”
or “Babylon's mistakes, errors and willful sins against God's law”
“have
reached”
which means “have followed, preceded, joined in attendant and
accompanied” “unto
heaven”
which means “to the region above the sidereal heavens and the seat
of order of things eternal and consummately perfect where God dwells
and other heavenly beings”. The “voice”
declared how the “willful sins” of “Babylon”
“preceded” them in “heaven”.
The
verse continues, “...
and God has remembered her iniquities.”
John continued with the words, “and
God”
which refers to “the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised
of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit” “has
remembered” or
“has been mindful of, recalled and called to mind” “her
iniquities”
which means “the city of Babylon's misdeeds, evil doings and
matters of wrong”. John heard the “voice
from heaven”
say that “God”
“recalled the “evil and wrong doings” of “Babylon”.
When
we think through John's words in this verse, we see how nothing
“evil” or “wrong” Babylon did was forgotten by God. When the
timing was right, God “remembered” them, and now they were to be
punished for them. God knows the “sins” of every person, and He
is willing to forgive those “sins” and “evil doings” when a
person “repents of them, seeks God for forgiveness and receives
Jesus Christ” as their personal “Savior and Lord”. Let all who
read these words know that God is aware of every “wrong and
mistake”, and He is willing to “forgive” in Jesus name if
people will turn to Him.
Next
time
the “voice
from heaven”
declares,
“reward
her even as she rewarded you”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until
tomorrow…there is more…
