An
“angel”
from heaven showed John the apostle many things which will occur in
the tribulation time on the earth, and John wrote about commercial
Babylon's destruction and the people who were affected by it. John
wrote about great worship which occurred in heaven afterward and then
shared,
“And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat
upon him was
called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he does judge and make
war. His eyes were
as a flame of fire, and on his head were
many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he
himself. And he was
clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The
Word of God. And the armies which
were
in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen,
white and clean. And out of his mouth goes a sharp sword, that with
it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of
iron: and he treads the wine-press of the fierceness and wrath of
Almighty God. And he has on his
vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF
LORDS.” John
continued,
“And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud
voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come
and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God; That
you may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the
flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on
them, and the flesh of all men,
both
free and bond, both small and great. And I saw the beast, and the
kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war
against him that sat on the horse, and against his army”,
and in Revelation chapter nineteen and verse twenty John sees the
“the
beast” and
“the
false prophet”
…
“both cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone”
where
we read:
And
the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought
miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received
the mark of the beast, and them that worshiped his image. These both
were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.
The
verse reads, “And
the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought
miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received
the mark of the beast, and them that worshiped his image.”
John began with the words, “and
the beast”
which means “and the ferocious living creature or the antichrist”
“was
taken”
or “laid hold of, captured and apprehended”, “and
with him”
which means “and alongside the antichrist” “the
false prophet”
which means “the one who was acting the part of a divinely inspired
prophet who utters falsehoods under the name of divine prophecies”
“that
wrought miracles”
or “produced, constructed and prepared signs, tokens, and marks of
unusual occurrences transcending the common course of nature”
“before
him”
which refers to “in the presence of the antichrist”, “with
which he deceived them”
or “alongside whom the false prophet caused people to stray, wander
and roam about” “that
had received”
which means “who took hold of, carried away, claimed and procured”
“the
mark”
or “the stamp, carved and graven work” “of
the beast”
which means “pertaining to the ferocious living creature or
antichrist”,
“and them”
or “and the people both male and female” “that
worshiped”
which means “who knelt before, did obeisance to and paid homage and
respect toward” “his
image”
or “the antichrist's figure, likeness and statue”. John watched
at the deceiving “antichrist” and his “false
prophet”
were “apprehended and captured”.
The
verse continues, “These
both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.”
John added the words, “these
both”
which means “both the antichrist and the false prophet” “were
cast alive” or
“were thrown, scattered, and poured out while they were still
living, had breath, were strong, efficient, powerful and efficacious”
“into
a lake”
which means “into the large or small body” “of
fire”
or “of fire like as with fiery lightning” “burning”
which refers to “consumed with fire kindled”
“with brimstone”
or “alongside burning and flashing sulphur”. John watched as
“the antichrist” and “the false prophet” were thrown into
“the burning lake of fire” which also has “burning sulfur”
within it.
When
we think through John's words in this verse, we note how this
horrific place is the destination for two men who shall bring so much
damage upon the earth and it's inhabitants. God already knows the end
for these two “evil men”, and although they will have power upon
the earth for a little time, their future is eternal damnation and
separation from God. God desires to save every person from entering
this terminus, and those who receive His Son Jesus as their personal
“Savior and Lord” shall never know such a horrible place.
However, those who refuse Jesus and align themselves with “the
antichrist and the false
prophet” shall also
know this hideous place reserved for them. Be saved today.
Next
time
John shares how, “the
remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
