Did You Not Sow Good Seed? - Matthew 13:27

Matthew the apostle wrote how Jesus told His disciples, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field. But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also”, and in chapter thirteen and verse twenty-seven of his book, Matthew wrote how Jesus tells His disciples how, “the servants of the householder” asked their master “did not you sow good seed”? where we read:

So the servants of the householder came and said unto him,

Sir, did not you sow good seed in your field? from where then has it tares?

The verse reads, So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, ... Matthew began with the word, “so” which means “moreover and” “the servants” or “the bondmen, slaves and ones who give themselves up to another's will” “of the householder” which means “belonging to the master or goodman of the house” “came and said” or “approached, drew near, assented and uttered, declared and proclaimed” “unto him” which means “to the householder”. Matthew shared how the “servants” of the “householder” came to him and asked him the following question.

The verse continues, ... Sir, did not you sow good seed in your field? from where then has it tares? Matthew added the word, “Sir” which means “master or lord”, “did not you sow” or “did you not scatter and plant” “good seed” which means “beautiful, handsome, excellent, eminent, choice, surpassing, precious, useful, suitable, commendable and admirable grain, kernels or germ of future plants” “in your field” or “within the householder's arable land, territory, farm or bit of tillage”? “from where” or “from which place or origin” “then has it tares” which means “why are there darnels in the field where the householder planted”? Matthew shared how the servants of the householder asked him whether or not he “sowed good germinating seed” into his farmland, and they wondered why there was “bad seed” there.

When we consider Matthew's words in this verse, we see how Jesus told how the “servants” of the “householder” got involved in this problem. They wondered if the “householder” or their master had “sown good seed” into his farmland, and they did not know why there would be “tares” within his field if he did. God has presented the “good seed” of the gospel of His Son Jesus Christ into the world, and nothing compares to it's goodness. There are other “bad and wicked” ideas that grow alongside of God's “seed”, but God desires for every person to have a relationship with His Son Jesus. When this “good seed” is received, there shall be “fruit” within their lives for all eternity.

Next time Matthew shares how Jesus shares what happened, “an enemy has done this”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
