Bring the Loaves and Fish to Jesus - Matthew 14:18

Matthew the apostle wrote how, “Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick. And when it was evening, his disciples came to him, saying, This is a desert place, and the time is now past; send the multitude away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves victuals. But Jesus said unto them, They need not depart; give you them to eat. And they say unto him, We have here but five loaves, and two fishes”, and in chapter fourteen and verse eighteen of his book, Matthew wrote how Jesus tells His disciples, “bring them here to me” where we read:

He said, Bring them here to me.

The verse reads, He said”. Matthew began with the words, “He said” which means “Jesus uttered, declared and proclaimed”. Matthew shared how Jesus instructed His disciples to do the following.

The verse goes on to say, Bring them here to me. Matthew continued with the words, “bring them here” which means “carry the five loaves and two fish” “to me” which refers to “Jesus Himself”. Matthew shared how Jesus instructed His disciples to bring the five loaves and two fishes to Him.

When we meditate upon Matthew's words in this verse, we see this simple instruction given by Jesus to His disciples. Certainly the disciples had no idea what Jesus was going to do with these five loaves and two fishes, but they obeyed Him. God desires to have a loving and trusting relationship with every person, and when they simply obey the slightest of His commands by yielding their lives to Him, He will do with them much more than they could ever imagine or think. Let all who read these words “bring” whatever they have to Jesus and watch what He is able to do with it today.

Next time we see Matthew shares how Jesus, “commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
