Matthew the apostle wrote how Jesus said, “every scribe which is instructed unto the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which brings forth out of his treasure things new and old”, and in chapter thirteen and verse fifty-two of his book, Matthew wrote how Jesus, “departed” from where He was after he “had finished these parables” we read:
And it came to pass, that when Jesus had finished these parables, he departed there.
The verse reads, “And it came to pass, that when Jesus had finished these parables, ...” Matthew began with the words, “and it came to pass” which means “and it came into existence, began to be and happened”, “that when Jesus” which means “that at the time and moment Jesus who is the Son of God, the Savior of mankind and God incarnate whose name means Jehovah is salvation”, “had finished” or “ended, closed, executed, carried out and fulfilled” “these parables” which means “the a narrative that is fictitious but agreeable to the laws and usages of human life, by which either the duties of men or the things of God, particularly the nature and history of God's kingdom are figuratively portrayed and is an earthly story with a heavenly meaning”. Matthew shared how Jesus completed His teachings with “parables”.
The verse goes on to say, “... he departed there.” Matthew continued with the words, “he departed” which means “Jesus left, transferred and removed Himself from” “there” or “the place where He was teaching”. Matthew shared how Jesus left where He was when He completed His teaching.
When we think through Matthew's words in this verse, we see how there is a time for the teaching of Jesus. He taught the people, His disciples and then departed from where he was. God allows opportunities for people to hear His “gospel” concerning “salvation” through His Son Jesus, however there comes a time when He will leave teaching. God desires for every person to yield their lives to His Son Jesus, and those who are wise shall hear Him before He departs from the opportunity to do so.
Next time Matthew shares how the people asked, “where has this man this wisdom and mighty works”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
