Entering into Caesarea - Acts 10:24

Luke the physician wrote how,the men which were sent from Cornelius had made inquiry for Simon's house, and stood before the gate, And called, and asked whether Simon, which was surnamed Peter, were lodged there. While Peter thought on the vision, the Spirit said unto him, Behold, three men seek you. Arise therefore, and get you down, and go with them, doubting nothing: for I have sent them. Then Peter went down to the men which were sent unto him from Cornelius; and said, Behold, I am he whom you seek: what is the cause wherefore you are come? And they said, Cornelius the centurion, a just man, and one that fears God, and of good report among all the nation of the Jews, was warned from God by an holy angel to send for you into his house, and to hear words of you. Then called he them in, and lodged them. And on the morrow Peter went away with them, and certain brethren from Joppa accompanied him, and in chapter ten and verse twenty-four of the book of Acts Luke shared how Peter, the men with him and Cornelius' servants, “entered into Caesarea” where we read:

And the morrow after they entered into Caesarea.

And Cornelius waited for them, and had called together his kinsmen and near friends.

The verse begins,And the morrow after they entered into Caesarea.” Luke began with the words, “and the morrow after” which means “and the following day” “they entered into Caesarea” or “Peter, the three men and the fellow believers with Peter made entrance and came into the city of Caesarea whose name means severed and was Caesarea of Palestine which was built near the Mediterranean by Herod the Great on the site of Strabo's Tower between Joppa and Dora”. Luke shared how “Peter, his fellow believers from Joppa and the three men sent from Cornelius” came into the city of “Caesarea”.

The verse goes on to say, And Cornelius waited for them, and had called together his kinsmen and near friends.Luke continued with the words, “and Cornelius” which means “and Cornelius whose name means of a horn and was a Roman centurion of the Italian cohort stationed in Caesarea” “waited for them” or “was expecting and looking for Peter and his three men”, “and had called together” which means “and had summoned, invited and assembled” “his kinsmen and near friends” or “Cornelius' kin, relatives, fellow countrymen, associates and familiar companions”. Luke shared how “Cornelius” was expecting “Peter” and his men to arrive, so he invited and assembled his family, friends and neighbors to be in his home when they arrived.

When we think through Luke's words in this verse, we discover how “Peter, his fellow believers and the three men” arrived at “Cornelius'” home on the next day. “Cornelius” was looking for and expecting them to come, so he assembled his family, friends and fellow countrymen to be in his home when they arrived. We can imagine the anticipation of “Cornelius” and the others as they waited for “Peter's” arrival. God loves people who are “looking for” Him, and He will show up through the “gospel” of His Son Jesus anytime someone desires to know Him. God loves people, and when they come to Him through Jesus, He will forgive their sins and grant them everlasting life. Let all who read these words be in constant expectation for “God” to show up and yield to His Son Jesus whenever He does.

Next time Luke shares, “as Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
