In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “He that keeps his mouth keeps his life: but he that opens wide his lips shall have destruction”, and in chapter thirteen and verse four of Proverbs Solomon said, “the soul of the sluggard desires, and has nothing” where we read,
The soul of the sluggard desires, and has nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.
The verse begins, “The soul of the sluggard desires, and has nothing:” Solomon began with the words, “the soul” or “the heart, mind, will, desires, living being, conscience and seat of emotions and passions” “of the sluggard desires” which means “pertaining to the wants, inclinations, cravings and lust belonging to people who are lazy, indolent and slothful”, “and has nothing” or “and owns, possesses and holds not one thing”. Solomon shared how people who are lazy and slothful are lustful and covetous however they own and possess not one thing.
The verse continues, “but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.” Solomon added the words, “but the soul” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover the heart, mind, will, desires, living being, conscience and seat of emotions and affections” “of the diligent” which means “belonging to people who are sharp-pointed and incisive” “shall be made fat” or “will become anointed and prosperous”. Solomon said the person who is sharp-pointed and incisive will become prosperous in the world.
When we consider the words in this verse, we discover through Solomon how it is important to be sedulous and incisive in the world. Jehovah God is willing to help us be this way when we surrender to His Son Jesus who died upon the cross for our sins. His desire is to save us from our sins, and when we believe and trust in Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and help us by His Holy Spirit not to be lazy and slothful so we can be eternally prosperous before Him according to His Divine will and plan.
Next time Solomon says, “A righteous man hates lying”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
