Righteousness Keeps the Upright - Proverbs 13:6

In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “A righteous man hates lying: but a wicked man is loathsome, and comes to shame”, and in chapter thirteen and verse six of Proverbs Solomon said, “righteousness keeps him that is upright in the way” where we read,

Righteousness keeps him that is upright in the way: but wickedness overthrows the sinner.

The verse begins, “Righteousness keeps him that is upright in the way:” Solomon began with the word, “righteousness keeps him” or “justice, truthfulness, salvation and prosperity guards, watches over and protects the person whether male or female” “that is upright” which means “who exist as complete, perfect and full of integrity” “in the way” or “within the road, distance, direction, manner, habit and course of life”. Solomon shared how being just, right and lawful watches over and protects the person who is full of integrity.

The verse continues, “but wickedness overthrows the sinner.” Solomon added the words, “but wickedness” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover guilt, wrong and fault” “overthrows the sinner” which means “twists, perverts, overturns and ruins the person whether male or female who is an offender”. Solomon said evil and wrong will pervert and ruin people who are offenders and guilty of sin, error, missing the mark and wrong.

When we think through Solomon's words in this verse, we discover the advantage people have in their lives when they conduct themselves with integrity. God wants us to have a personal relationship with Him through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we yield our lives to Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and help us to continue in His lawful and correct ways while we avoid evil and wrong that ruins people who miss God's mark of perfection.

Next time Solomon shares about, being “rich” and being “poor”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
