In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “Evil pursues sinners: but to the righteous good shall be repaid”, and in chapter thirteen and verse twenty-two of Proverbs Solomon said, “a good man leaves an inheritance to his children's children” where we read,
A good man leaves an inheritance to his children's children:
and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.
The verse begins, “A good man leaves an inheritance to his children's children:” Solomon began with the words, “a good man” or “a pleasant, agreeable, excellent and valuable male human being” “leaves an inheritance” which means “divides, causes to inherit, be allotted and made to possess” “to his children's children” or “to the man's offspring and their offspring”. Solomon shared how a pleasant and valuable male human being allots a heritage or transferred possession to his children and grandchildren.
The verse continues, “and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.” Solomon added the words, “and the wealth” or “and the might, efficiency, ability, strength, valor and riches” “of the sinner” or “belonging to person who misses the mark, is unclean, condemned and worthy of punishment” “is laid up for the just” which means “exists as hidden, treasured, lurking and stored up on behalf of people who are lawful, righteous and correct”. Solomon said the strength and riches belonging to people who miss the mark , are unclean and worthy of punishment will be stored up for people who are righteous and lawful.
When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon how people who are blessed by Jehovah God and conduct themselves in a pleasant and agreeable manner will leave their possessions to their children and grandchildren, however, the valuables of people who are unclean and worthy of condemnation shall have their riches stored up for people who are lawful and correct. God owns everything (See Psalms 24:1), and He gives people the ability to obtain wealth and riches. (See Deuteronomy 8:18; Ecclesiastes 5:19) Those riches are temporary which is one of the reasons why Jehovah God sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and give us a portion of His wealth that we may disperse them to our children and grandchildren when we leave this world.
Next time Solomon says, “much food is in the tillage of the poor”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
