In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “he that spares his rod hates his son: but he that loves him chastens him betimes”, and in chapter thirteen and verse twenty-five of Proverbs Solomon said, “the righteous eats to the satisfying of his soul” where we read,
The righteous eats to the satisfying of his soul: but the belly of the wicked shall want.
The verse begins, “The righteous eats to the satisfying of his soul:” Solomon began with the words, “the righteous eats” or “the person who is just, right, correct and lawful consumes and devours” “to the satisfying” which means “toward the satiety, abundance and fullness” “of his soul” or “pertaining to the righteous person's heart, mind, will, desires, living being, conscience and seat of emotions and affections”. Solomon shared how people who are right, just and lawful consume to the fullness of their hearts, minds and wills.
The verse goes on to say, “but the belly of the wicked shall want.” Solomon continued with the words, “but the belly” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover the hallow, abdomen and bosom” “of the wicked” which means “belonging to people who are criminal, guilty of crimes, evil and hostile to God” “shall want” or “will lack, diminish, decrease and be in want”. Solomon said the very core of the people who are criminal and evil will lack and be in want.
When we consider Solomon's words in this verse, we learn how people who are lawful and correct toward Jehovah God consume and devour to their heart's capacity, however, people who are evil and hostile to God will lack and be in want. God wants us to be “satisfied” with Him, and because we have sin in our lives, we are separated from a personal relationship with Him. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we surrender our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and help us through His Holy Spirit to be “righteous” so we may consume to “the satisfying of our souls”.
Next time we begin a new chapter and see Solomon say, “every wise woman builds her house”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
