In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “the righteous eats to the satisfying of his soul: but the belly of the wicked shall want”, and in chapter fourteen and verse one of Proverbs Solomon said, “every wise woman builds her house” where we read,
Every wise woman builds her house: but the foolish plucks it down with her hands.
The verse begins, “Every wise woman builds her house:” Solomon began with the words, “every wise woman” or “each, all, the whole and everyone of the female human beings who are skillful, shrewd and prudent” “builds her house” which means “establishes, sets up and makes permanent her, the woman's, dwelling place, habitation, shelter and abode”. Solomon shared how the “woman” who is skillful, shrewd and prudent establishes her shelter and home.
The verse continues, “but the foolish plucks it down with her hands.” Solomon added the words, “but the foolish” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover the woman who is stupid, silly and filled with folly” “plucks it down” or “tears, breaks and overthrows it, the woman's house” “with her hands” which means “by the use of her physical hands of power, might and strength”. Solomon said a woman who is silly and filled with folly tears down her own home with her physical hands of power, might and strength.
When we meditate upon Solomon's words in this verse, we discover how important it is for women to establish and set up their homes. They are not to use their power and might to tear down their homes, but in keeping with the direction of Jehovah God, they are to make their homes permanent. God gives us our families, and throughout His word, the Bible, He give direction and guidance as to how we are to keep them. God gave us His Son Jesus to die on the cross for our sins so we can be in a well established personal relationship with Him. When we believe and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and teach us how to set up our homes like a “wise woman” who knows the value of establishing her home.
Next time Solomon says, “he that walks in his uprightness fears the LORD”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
