Established in Christ 2 Corinthians 1:21

Paul the apostle told the church members in Corinth “all the promises of God in him are yes, and in him Amen”. He added, “unto the glory of God by us”, and in chapter one and verse twenty-one of Second Corinthians, Paul shared with the church members concerning, “he which establishes us with you in Christ”, where we read:

Now he which establishes us with you in Christ, and has anointed us, is God;

The verse begins, “Now he which establishes us with you in Christ, ...Paul began with the word, “now” which means “moreover and” “he which establishes us” which refers to “he who makes firm, confirms and makes sure” “in Christ” which means “within the anointed One, the Messiah and the Son of God”. Paul stated that it was in “Christ” that he and his companions were “firm and sure” with the church members.

The verse continues, ... and has anointed us, is God; Paul added the words, “and has anointed us” which means “Paul and his companions were empowered and endued with gifts of the Holy Spirit”, “is God” which refers to “the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit”. God not only “established” “in Christ” the church members with Paul and his companions , but also “endued” with “gifts of the Holy Spirit”.

When we think through these words from Paul, we see how he credits God with the “establishing” and the “gifts” given to the church members in Corinth. Those who come to Jesus Christ as their Savior do so because God has put them into that position. God desires a relationship with everyone, and He loves to “establish” and “anoint” them in that relationship. May we know the desire of God, and if we do not have a relationship with Him at this time, may we submit to Him before we read the last word of this blog.

Next time Paul tells the church members how God has, “sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
