Peace by Jesus Christ - Acts 10:36

Luke the physician wrote how two servants and a soldier of Cornelius went to Joppa to find Peter. After arriving at Simon's house where Peter was staying, they met Peter and convinced him to go see their master Cornelius. After entering Cornelius house, Peter found many people gathered there, and Cornelius told Peter,we all here present before God, to hear all things that are commanded you of God. Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons. But in every nation he that fears him, and works righteousness, is accepted with him, and in chapter ten and verse thirty-six of the book of Acts Luke shared how Peter told Cornelius God sent His word to the children of Israel, “preaching peace by Jesus Christ” where we read:

The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ:

(he is Lord of all:)

The verse begins,The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ:” Luke began with the words, “the word which God sent” which means “the speech and living voice which embodies a conception or idea that the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit dispatched and assigned” “unto the children of Israel” or “toward the prodigy and offspring belonging to Israel whose name means he shall be a prince of God and is the family or descendants of Jacob”, “preaching peace by Jesus Christ” which means “bringing and announcing the good news and glad tidings of God's kindness, tranquility, harmony and calmness in particular of the Messianic blessings through His Son Jesus whose name means Jehovah is Salvation and is the anointed One and Messiah”. Luke shared how “Peter” told “Cornelius” and the people in his home that “God” dispatched His “word” to the people of “Israel” concerning the “calmness, tranquility and harmony” He announced through His Son Jesus the Messiah.

The verse goes on to say, (he is Lord of all:)” Luke continued with the word, “he” which refers to “Jesus Christ God's Son and Messiah” “is Lord of all” or “exists at the One to whom a person or thing belongs about which he has power of deciding; master, and the title given to God the Messiah, over each, every, the whole and every person”. Luke parenthetically shared how “Jesus Christ” is the “Lord” over everyone and everything.

When we meditate upon Luke's words in this verse, we learn how God gave his “word” to “Israel” which was the announcement of “peace, calm, tranquility and harmony” through His Son Jesus. Jesus is the “Lord” over all people, and anyone who yields their life to Him will be forgiven of their sins and granted everlasting life. Paul the apostle wrote, That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (See Philippians 2:10-11) While they are living people have an opportunity to receive Jesus as their personal “Savior and Lord”, however, should they reject and refuse Him, they will eventually “bow” their “knee” to Him and “confess” with their “tongues” that “Jesus Christ is Lord”.

Next time Luke shares how Peter refers to, “that word … which was published throughout all Judaea”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
