You and Your House Shall Be Saved - Acts 11:14

Luke the physician wrote how Peter told the Jewish “apostles and believers” in Jerusalem, he saw, “in a trance I saw a vision, A certain vessel descend, as it had been a great sheet, let down from heaven by four corners;”, and after this was done three times, “immediately there were three men already come unto the house where I was, sent from Caesarea unto me. And the Spirit bade me go with them, nothing doubting. Moreover these six brethren accompanied me, and we entered into the man's house. And he showed us how he had seen an angel in his house, which stood and said unto him, Send men to Joppa, and call for Simon, whose surname is Peter”, and in chapter eleven and verse fourteen of the book of Acts Luke shared how Peter told the Jewish believers the angel told the man how Peter would, “tell you words, whereby you and all your house shall be saved” where we read:

Who shall tell you words, whereby you and all your house shall be saved.

The verse begins, “Who shall tell you words, ... Luke began with the words, “who shall tell you” which means “who, Peter, will articulate, utter, speak and preach to you, Cornelius” “words” or “utterances, subject matter and sayings” according to the following. Luke shared how “Peter” told the “apostles and believers” that the “Holy Spirit” told “Cornelius, the Gentile”, that “Peter” would share with them “speeches and matters” according to the following.

The verse goes on to say, “... whereby you and all your house shall be saved. Luke continued with the words, “whereby you” which means “in which way and manner you, Cornelius” “and all your house” or “and each, every, the whole and everyone of the people within Cornelius' home” “shall be saved” which means “will be rescued, made well, restored to health and delivered from sin and disease”. Luke shared how the “Holy Spirit” said “Peter” would speak “words and sayings” unto him and his household which would “rescued and delivered” from the power of sin and death.

When we meditate upon Luke's words in this verse, we learn how the “Holy Spirit” of God was directing “Cornelius” to go to “Peter”, and He was directing “Peter” to go to “Cornelius”. In other words, God was working His plan of “salvation” through both men, and anyone who yields their life to His Son Jesus as their personal “Savior and Lord” will be “saved” from their sins and the penalty of death associated with them. God loves people, and when they submit their lives to His Son Jesus, they will be forgiven of their sins and granted everlasting life with Him.

Next time Luke shares how Peter tells the Jewish believers, “as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
