God Knows All His Works - Acts 15:18

The beloved physician Luke shared when Paul, Barnabas and their companions came to Jerusalem, “a certain of the sect of the Pharisees which believed” were “saying” about the Gentile believers “That it was needful to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses.” After much discussion among them, Peter stood up to speak, and afterward James declared, “Men and brethren, hearken unto me. Simeon has declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his name. And to this agree the words of the prophets; as it is written, After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up. That the residue of men might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles, upon whom my name is called, says the Lord, who does all these things”, and in chapter fifteen and verse eighteen of the book of Acts Luke shared how James said, “Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world” where we read:

Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world.

The verse begins, “Known unto God are all his works ... Luke began with the words, “known unto God” which means “well-known and notable to the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit” “are all his works” or “are each, every, the whole and everyone of God's businesses, employments and that which He undertakes and is occupied”. Luke shared how “James” said “God” is aware of “each and everyone” of His actions and purposes”.

The verse goes on to say, “... from the beginning of the world.” Luke continued with the words, “from the beginning” or “apart from the start, initiation and origin” “of the world” which means “belonging to the unbroken age, perpetuity of time and course of life”. Luke shared how “James” said “God” knew about His “works” from the origin of the course of life.

When we think through Luke's words in this verse, we learn how “James” referred to the way “God” was aware of all His “workings and business” since the origin of time. “God” knew mankind would need a “Savior”, and He sent Jesus to the world to die on the cross for their sins. Anyone who believes and trusts in Jesus will be forgiven of their sins and granted everlasting life with “God”. Those who are wise will carefully consider the well-known intention and purpose of God to save every person who yields to His Son Jesus.

Next time Luke shares how James says, “wherefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
