In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “chasten your son while there is hope, and let not your soul spare for his crying”, and in chapter nineteen and verse nineteen of Proverbs Solomon said, “a man of great wrath shall suffer punishment” where we read,
A man of great wrath shall suffer punishment: for if you deliver him, yet you must do it again.
The verse begins, “A man of great wrath shall suffer punishment:” Solomon began with the words, “a man of great wrath” or “a person whether male or female who has abundant, massive and mighty heat, hot displeasure, indignation and burning anger” “shall suffer punishment” which means “will bear up, carry, sustain and endure fines, penalties and indemnity”. Solomon shared how the person who has abundant and burning anger will sustain penalties and damages.
The verse continues, “for if you deliver him, yet you must do it again.” Solomon added the words, “for if you deliver him” or “because, since and on account in case and whether you, the person reading and listening to Solomon's words, snatch away, rescue and save him, the man of great wrath”, “yet you must do it again” which means “still you, the person reading and listening to Solomon's, words, will be made to rescue and save the man of great wrath another time.” Solomon said when a person rescues someone who has abounding displeasure and burning anger will have to repeat it over and over again.
When we think through the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon that people who express hot displeasure and indignation will eventually experience enduring penalties for their behavior, and although they are rescued from their damages, they will continue in their behavior and will need to be saved over and over again. God knows our temperament and He loves us. He wants to have a personal relationship with us through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we believe and trust in Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and keep us from unbridled anger that damages us and causes us to have a need to be delivered over and over again.
Next time Solomon says, “hear counsel, and receive instruction”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
