Luke the physician wrote how Peter said to the lame man at the temple, “Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I to you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk”, and in chapter three and verse seven of the book of Acts Luke shared how Peter, “took him by the right hand, and lifted him up” where we read:
And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up:
and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.
The verse begins, “And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up:” Luke began with the words, “and he took him by the right hand” which means “and he, Peter, grasped, lay hold of and apprehended the lame man by his physical right hand”, “and lifted him up” or “and raised the lame man”. Luke shared how “Peter” lay hold of the “lame man” and raised him to his feet.
The verse goes on to say, “and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.” Luke continued with the words, “and immediately” or “and straightway and forthwith” “his feet and ankle bones” which means “the lame man's physical feet and ankle bones” “received strength” or “were made solid, firm and strong”. Luke shared how the “feet and ankles” of the lame man were made strong “immediately” after “Peter” raised him up.
When we meditate upon Luke's words in this verse, we learn how “Peter” took action after speaking the words to the lame man. “Peter” took him by his “right hand”, lifted him up and “immediately” the man was made whole. “Peter” spoke “in Jesus Christ of Nazareth's” name, and the “lame man's” healing came through Jesus. This was no doubt a notable miracle not only for the “lame man”, but also to those who observed it. God loves people, and He is willing to have a relationship with anyone who yields their life to His Son Jesus as their “Lord and Savior”. He has miracle working power, and He is able to supply every need. He employed “Peter” to continue His work among people, and He uses people today. Let everyone who is reading these words surrender their life to Jesus who alone is able to “eternally save” and make the “cripple” walk.
Next time Luke shares how the lame man, “leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them in the temple”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
