Luke the physician wrote how Peter said to the lame man at the temple, “Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I to you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength”, and in chapter three and verse eight of the book of Acts Luke shared how the lame man, “leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them in the temple” where we read:
And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple,
walking, and leaping, and praising God.
The verse begins, “And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, ...” Luke began with the words, “and he leaping up stood” which means “and he, the lame man, jumping and springing up began to stand”, “and walked” or “and ambled about and tread all around”, “and entered with them” which means “and made entrance and came with Peter and John” “into the temple” or “into the sacred worship place located in Jerusalem”. Luke shared how the “lame man” sprung to his feet, ambled about and came into the “sacred worship place” with Peter and John.
The verse continues, “... walking, and leaping, and praising God.” Luke added the word, “walking” or “ambling and treading around”, “and leaping” which means “and springing up or jumping”, “and praising God” or “and extolling, singing praises to and honoring the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit”. Luke shared how the lame man continued to “amble about, jump and give glory and honor” to God as he entered the temple.
When we think through Luke's words in this verse, we learn what happened to the “lame man” when his “feet and ankle bones” were strengthened. He began to “walk, jump and give glory to God” for his miracle. This man had never walked before, and he was now “walking and leaping” in the sacred worship place. This was a mighty miracle performed through Peter and John through the name of Jesus Christ. God loves to bless people, and when they turn to Him through His Son Jesus, He will forgive their sins, grant them eternal life and perform miracles for them that they never imagined could happen. Let all who consider this “lame man” who was now walking realize God's power and love is extended toward them as well, and all that is necessary to receive it is to surrender to Him.
Next time Luke shares how, “all the people saw him walking and praising God”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
