Luke the physician wrote how Peter told the people who gathered together after the lame man at the temple was healed to, “Repent you therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord. And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you. Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God has spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began. For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall you hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you. And it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people. Yes, and all the prophets from Samuel and those that follow after, as many as have spoken, have likewise foretold of these days. You are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, And in your seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed”, and in chapter three and verse twenty-six of the book of Acts Luke shared how Peter told the people, “Unto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you” where we read:
Unto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you,
in turning away every one of you from his iniquities.
The verse begins, “Unto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, ...” Luke began with the words, “Unto you first God” which means “to you, Jewish people who gathered to Peter and John in the temple, in first place and rank the Heavenly Father God”, “having raised up his Son Jesus” which means “by causing His Son Jesus to be resurrected from the dead”, “sent him to bless you” or “dispatched and assigned Jesus to celebrate, consecrate and favor you, Jewish people who gathered themselves to Peter and John in the temple”. Luke shared how “Peter” told the Jewish people in the temple who rushed toward him and John that God “dispatched” His Son Jesus to “consecrate and celebrate” them.
The verse continues, “... in turning away every one of you from his iniquities.” Luke added the words, “in turning away” or “by removing” “every one of you” which means “each, the whole and all of the Jewish people who gathered themselves to Peter and John” “from his iniquities” or “apart and separated from each person's depravity, wickedness, malice, evil purposes and desires”. Luke shared how “the Heavenly Father God” “blessed” the Jewish people by “removing” the “depravity and wickedness” of all of them.
When we consider Luke's words in this verse, we learn why “God” sent His Son Jesus to the Jewish people. He desired to “bless” them by “removing” their “wicked and evil ways”. Jesus came to die on the cross for the sins of the entire world, and every person who believes and trusts in Him as their personal “Savior and Lord” will be forgiven of their sins and be granted everlasting life with God. Those who carefully examine why “God” sent His Son Jesus will discover His immense love for all mankind, and those who receive Him will be “blessed” by having their “iniquities” removed.
Next time we begin a new chapter and see Luke share how, “the priests, and the captain of the temple, and the Sadducees, came upon them”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
