Luke the physician wrote how Peter told the people who gathered together after the lame man at the temple was healed that they had, “killed the Prince of life, whom God has raised from the dead; whereof we are witnesses. And his name through faith in his name has made this man strong, whom you see and know: yes, the faith which is by him has given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all. And now, brethren, I know that through ignorance you did it, as did also your rulers. But those things, which God before had showed by the mouth of all his prophets, that Christ should suffer, he has so fulfilled. Repent you therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord”, and in chapter three and verse twenty of the book of Acts Luke shared how Peter told the people, “he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you” where we read:
And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you:
The verse begins, “And he shall send Jesus Christ, ...” Luke began with the words, “and he shall send” which means “and he, God, will dispatch and assign” “Jesus” whose name means “Jehovah is Salvation” and is “the Son of God, the Savior of mankind and God incarnate” “Christ” which refers to “the anointed One, the Messiah and the Son of God”. Luke shared how “Peter” said God would “dispatch” His Son Jesus who is the anointed One and Messiah.
The verse continues, “... which before was preached unto you:” Luke added the words, “which before” or “who in advance and prior to this time” “was preached unto you” which means “was announced, proclaimed and heralded beforehand unto you, people who were gathered to Peter and John in the temple”. Luke shared how “Peter” told the people how Jesus was “heralded and announced” previously to them.
When we meditate upon Luke's words in this verse, we learn how “Peter” told the people who rushed toward him and John in the temple how God was to “dispatch” His Son Jesus, who was previously with them, toward any of them who “repented” and were “converted” and their sins would be “blotted out”. God's desire is to “remove” the “sins” of every person who believes and trusts in His Son Jesus as their personal “Savior and Lord”, and rather than being separated from a relationship with God, they will be granted everlasting life with Him. Those who are wise will yield themselves to Jesus to have their sins removed and be given eternal age abiding life both on earth and in Heaven.
Next time Luke shares how Peter says of Jesus, “Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
