Joshua Rose Early in the Morning - Joshua 6:12

In the book of Joshua, we learned, Joshua had commanded the people, saying, you shall not shout, nor make any noise with your voice, neither shall any word proceed out of your mouth, until the day I bid you shout; then shall you shout, So the ark of the LORD compassed the city, going about it once: and they came into the camp, and lodged in the camp”, and in chapter six and verse twelve of the book of Joshua, we learn how, “Joshua rose early in the morning” where we read,

And Joshua rose early in the morning, and the priest took up the ark of the LORD.

The verse reads, And Joshua rose early in the morning, …” Joshua or the writer began with the words, “and Joshua” whose name means “Jehovah is Salvation” “rose early in the morning”  or “started, rose up and made a first and primary start within the dawn or sunrise of the day”. Joshua or the writer shared how “Joshua” got up “early” in the “morning” time of the day.

The verse goes on to say, “… and the priest took up the ark of the LORD.” Joshua continued with the words, “and the priest” or “and the spiritual leaders, rulers and officials” “took up” which means “lifted up and carried” “the ark of the LORD” or “the box or chest belonging to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name of the One True God”. Joshua or the writer shared how the spiritual leader lifted up and carried Jehovah God’s “ark of the covenant” once again..

When we think through the words in this verse, we learn how “Joshua” got an “early” start to the next day when the people of Israel were to march around the city of Jericho again. When God gives a task, we do best when we act upon it as quickly as possible. Like the nation of Israel, God loves us and assigns us responsibilities within His Kingdom, and when He gave His Only Begotten Son Jesus to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and He raised Him from the dead, He made the way through faith and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord” to be forgiven of our sins, granted everlasting life and given His Holy Spirit who will not only guide us into all truth, but also give us assignments for which He will provide the ambition and ability to perform.

Next time Joshua or the writer refers to, “the seven priests bearing seven trumpets of ram’s horns before the ark of the LORD continually”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
