A Dumb Man Possessed with a Devil Matthew 9:32

Matthew the apostle shared when Jesus raised a little girl back to life again, the fame hereof went abroad into all that land. And when Jesus departed there, two blind men followed him, crying, and saying, You Son of David, have mercy on us. And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him: and Jesus said unto them, Do you believe that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yes, Lord. Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you. And their eyes were opened; and Jesus straightly charged them, saying, See that no man know it. But they, when they were departed, spread abroad his fame in all that country.” In chapter nine and verse thirty-two of his book, Matthew shared how they brought to Jesus, “a dumb man possessed with a devil” where we read:

As they went out, behold, they brought to him a dumb man possessed with a devil.

The verse reads, As they went out, behold, ...” Matthew began with the words, “as they went out” or “when the two blind men left and departed”, “behold” which means “lo and see”. Matthew referred to the time when the “two blind men” left Jesus.

The verse continues, “... they brought to him a dumb man possessed with a devil.” Matthew added the words, “they brought” or “the people within the region bore, lead, presented and offered ” “to him” which means “to Jesus” “a dumb man” or “a male human blunted or lamed in tongue, deaf and speechless” “possessed with a devil” or “under the power and vexed with a demon”. Matthew shared how the people brought to Jesus a man who was deaf and speechless because he was under the power of a demon.

When we meditate upon Matthew's words in this verse, we see another person who was “possessed” by a “demon”, and this “demon” made him “deaf and dumb”. God knew these things were among people, and He sent Jesus to overcome them. The people who brought this man to Jesus believed He was able to heal and cleanse him from “demonic” oppression and the physical malady caused by him. God desires to have a relationship with people through His Son Jesus, and when He is their “Savior and Lord”, there is no “demon” or physical condition He cannot manage or control.

Next time Matthew shares what happened, “when the devil was cast out”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
