Paul
the apostle told the believers in Rome, “
I will not dare to speak of any of those things which Christ has not
worked by me, to make the Gentiles obedient, by word and deed”,
and
in chapter
fifteen and verse nineteen of Romans,
Paul shared about, “mighty
signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God” where
we read:
Through
mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God; so that
from Jerusalem, and round about unto Illyricum, I have fully preached
the gospel of Christ.
The
verse begins, “Through
mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God;”
Paul
began with the word, “through”
which means “by means of” “mighty
signs”
or “strength, power and ability of miracles by which God
authenticates the men sent by him or by which men prove that the
cause they are pleading is God's” “and
wonders”
which means “prodigy and portent as of a omen”, “by
the power”
or “strength and ability” “of
the Spirit”
or “pertaining to the third person of the triune God, the Holy
Spirit, coequal, co-eternal with the Father and the Son” “of
God” which
means “the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God the
Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit”. Paul referred to the
“miracles” which were performed by him upon people through God's
Holy Spirit “power”.
The
verse continues, “
so that from Jerusalem, and round about unto Illyricum, I have fully
preached the gospel of Christ.”.
Paul added the words, “so
that from Jerusalem”
which means “from the city in Israel whose name means set double
peace”, “and
round about”
or “and the area surrounding Jerusalem” “unto
Illyricum”
which refers to “a region lying between Italy, Germany, Macedonia
and Thrice, having on one side the Adriatic Sea, and on the other the
Danube whose name means the lyric band”, “I
have fully preached”
or “Paul completely filled up, caused to abound, furnished and
supplied liberally” “the
gospel”
which means “the glad tidings and good news” “of
God” which
refers to “the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised of God
the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit”. Paul shared the
“good news” of Jesus Christ from “Jerusalem”
to the far reaching European countries.
When
we meditate upon these words of Paul, we see how God “mightily”
used him to share His “gospel”. Paul worked many “miracles”
throughout the book of Acts which proved the validity of his message
of salvation both to the Jews and the Gentiles. God sent His Son
Jesus to die for the sins of all people, and when “the power of
the Holy Spirit” is employed, people can be saved. God desires
for everyone to have a relationship with Him, and this comes through
His “good news”. Let everyone who reads these words know the Holy
Spirit's power within their own hearts and receive Him today.
Next
time
Paul tells the believers in Rome how he operated,
“have I striven to preach the gospel, not where Christ was named”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
