Paul
the apostle told the believers in Rome, “every
knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God”,
and in chapter
fourteen and verse twelve of Romans,
Paul told the believers in Rome, “every
one of us shall give account” where
we read:
So
then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.
The
verse begins, “So
then every one of us ...” Paul
began with the words, “so
then”
which means “therefore, accordingly, consequently and these things
being so” “every
one”
or “each, all, the whole and every person” “of
us”
which means
“pertaining
to Paul, his companions and his believing readers”. Paul included
“each” and “every”
person in that which he is about to declare.
The
verse goes on to say, “...
shall
give account of himself to God.” Paul
continued with the words, “shall
give” which
means “will supply, furnish, deliver, extend and present”
“account”
or “word, discourse, speech and declaration” “of
himself”
which means “of his or her own self” “to
God”
which refers to “the Godhead bodily and trinity which is comprised
of God the Father, Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit”.
Paul shared how “every
person” will “deliver and extend” toward God a “declaration”
concerning themselves.
When
we consider these words of Paul, we recognize the awesome nature of
his words. “Every” person will give a “speech or
declaration” concerning their own lives. This is why it is
imperative that Jesus Christ is “believed” and “received”.
Without Jesus, there is no hope for anyone's accounting because none
will be acceptable before God. Only Jesus can “save”, and no
amount of works or efforts can make a person righteous before God.
Jesus lived a perfect life, died on the cross to pay the penalty for
the sins and errors of the whole world and was raised again from the
dead to extend “everlasting life” to everyone who
believes. Without Jesus, the “accounting” before God will
lead to “doom and destruction”, but with Him, there shall be
“everlasting and eternal joy”.
Next
time
Paul tells the believers in Rome, “let
us not therefore judge one another any more”,
so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until
tomorrow…there is more…
