Christ Died, Rose and Revived Romans 14:9

Paul the apostle told the believers in Rome, “none of us lives to himself, and no man dies to himself” and he added, “whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord:
whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's” .In chapter fourteen and verse nine of Romans, Paul told the believers in Rome, “to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived” where we read:

For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived,
that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.

The verse begins, For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, ...” Paul began with the word, “for” which means “even as, indeed, no doubt, seeing then, verily and therefore” “to this end” or “toward this purpose and reason” “Christ” which refers to “the anointed One, the Messiah and the Son of God” “both died” which means “even also and indeed perished and experienced death”, “and rose” or “and was raised, appeared and arose”, “and revived” which means “lived again, recovered, was restored to life and regained strength and vigor”. Paul shared how the fact that people “live” and “die” was the reason and cause for Jesus coming to the earth, “dying and being raised from the dead”.

The verse continued, “... that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.” Paul added the words, “that he might” which means “so Jesus would have the power and ability to” “be Lord” or “exist as the one who has dominion and power over, exercises influence upon” “both” which means “even also and indeed” “of the dead” or “pertaining to the who have perished and experienced death” “and living” which means “and those who breathe, are with life and full of vigor”. Jesus, according to Paul, “died, rose and revived” so He could become “Lord” of those who are “living” and those who have “died”.

When we consider these words of Paul, we discover the reason Jesus came. He knew people would certainly “live”, but they were also destined to “die”. So He positioned Himself not only among the “living”, but also experienced “death” and defeated it by being raised from the “dead”. Now Jesus is “Lord” over “life and death”, and when people put their faith and trust in Him as their personal “Savior and Lord”, they shall receive “everlasting life”. God knew people would “die” because of their “sin”, so He sent His Son Jesus to “die” and be “raised” that they might be saved.

Next time Paul tells the believers in Rome, “why do you judge your brother?”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
